Hilltop governance
Board of Directors
Hilltop is governed by a Board of Directors composed of 6 Hilltop parent
members and 6 public members (usually from the KU community). Hilltop parent
board members are elected each spring for the coming year. Because Hilltop is
designated as a University Affiliated Corporation and receives administrative
support from the Office of Student Success, a representative of that office serves
as a Hilltop board member. The board functions in an advisory, policy-making
capacity.
Gina Cregg, Past President

Gina Cregg is the Associate Director of KU Continuing Education. Gina has been a member
of the Hilltop Childcare Center board since fall 2004. She lives in Lawrence with her two
children: Caylus, who started Hilltop fall 2002, and Cason, who started at Hilltop fall 2006.
Alee Phillips
Public Member, 2005aphillips@ku.edu
Alee Phillips is a full-time lecturer for the Accounting and Information Systems
department at the University of Kansas, School of Business. She also serves as the
faculty advisor for the school’s Lambda Alpha chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the international
honorary organization for financial information students and professionals. Alee earned her
graduate and undergraduate degrees from the University of Kansas and is a Certified Public
Accountant. Alee and her husband, Tim, live in Lawrence with their two sons, Sam and Ike.
Michael Steinle, President

Michael is a Project Manager and Scientific Consultant for Critigen LLC and longtime
Lawrence resident. He serves on the Finance Committee.
KC Atchinson, Secretary

K. C. Atchinson is a graduate of the University of Kansas and a 2011 J.D. candidate at
the KU School of Law. She has been a Hilltop parent for the past 6 years and hopes
to be involved for many more! She and her daughter Marea live in Lawrence, Kansas.

Matt Godinez, is the National Sales Manager at Trinity Transport, Inc. He and his
wife, Casey, live in Lawrence with his son Brock, and his daughter Isabella.
Steve Rottinghaus

Steve Rottinghaus, a graduate of the University of Kansas, is the public relations
director at Baker University. He and his wife, Dawn, live in Wellsville with their
two daughters, Ashtyn and Kelsey.
Melissa Tanking

Melissa Tanking is an early childhood special education teacher within the Kansas
City Kansas Public Schools. She graduated from the University of Kansas, School
of Education, and received degrees in unified early childhood and functional special
education. Melissa and her husband, Jason, enjoy living in Lawrence.
Tammara Durham, President-Elect

Tammara Durham completed her graduate education at the University of Kansas and
is currently employed by the University as the director of the University Advising
Center. She is in her second year of a three year term as a parent board member.
